Karin S.
University of California, San Francisco
Karin launched her academic journey in the United States by earning Associate degrees in Biology and Chemistry at West Valley College before advancing to the University of California, Berkeley. There, she successfully completed her BA in Molecular and Cell Biology. She further delved into the life sciences field through research stints at two prestigious laboratories: Dr. Werb’s laboratory in the Department of Anatomy at UCSF and the Diaz Lab in the Neurosurgery Department at UCSF.As an admissions coach, Karin spent considerable time at UC Berkeley probing into the complexities of neutrophils and the innate immune system. Her research acumen found a new avenue at the Diaz Lab, where she applied molecular approaches to explore pathways involved in glioma progression. Simultaneously, she guided senior high school and community college students in navigating the complexities of choosing a major and securing scholarships and funding.
