Despite growing up in a city, Dr. Stein has been snow-skiing since she was three years old and was the captain of her Varsity Ski Team in high school. She is also an avid gym-goer and runner who made it a priority during her busy dental school/residency years to continue her healthy habits!
Dr. Stein, a native of Manhattan, NYC has always been driven by her passion for dentistry and her desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Her journey began at Emory University, where she followed a pre-dental track and earned a BS in biology. Her exceptional academic performance led her to the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded a Dean's Merit Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
During her time at Penn Dental, Dr. Stein discovered her true calling in the field of orthodontics. Her fascination with the intricacies of dental alignment and her desire to help patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles propelled her to apply to some of the most competitive orthodontic residency programs in the country. Through her hard work, dedication, and impressive track record, Dr. Stein secured a spot at her top choice—Columbia University's Orthodontic Residency Program.
Dr. Stein has navigated multiple application cycles, interview processes, and a series of rigorous exams, gaining invaluable experience and insight along the way. Having overcome these obstacles herself, she developed a strong desire to help other students facing similar challenges in their pursuit of a career in dentistry. She recognized the complexity of the application process and the importance of having a knowledgeable, supportive mentor to guide students through the journey.
Drawing from her own experiences in admissions and her deep understanding of what makes a strong application, Dr. Stein has dedicated herself to serving as a mentor to college-level and dental school students. She provides comprehensive guidance and advice throughout the dental school and residency application processes, helping students highlight their strengths and achievements.
One of Dr. Stein's greatest strengths is her exceptional organizational skills and her commitment to efficiency. She understands the demanding lifestyle of college students and the importance of managing time effectively. She takes pride in creating prioritized to-do lists, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and collaborating with students to ensure that they can complete their applications and requirements in a way that is both efficient and minimally overwhelming. Her goal is to empower students to achieve their dreams while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Sonnenberg is a third-generation dentist whose passion for dentistry runs deep in the family. An avid golfer and snowboarder, he also enjoys cooking and awaits the review of his culinary creations by his wife, Phoebe.
Throughout his years of intensive post-doctoral training, Dr. Sonnenberg demonstrated a commitment to excellence. He completed a General Practice Residency at Staten Island University Hospital, where he honed his skills in providing comprehensive dental care to a diverse patient population. Following this, he pursued a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Woodhull Medical Center, further specializing in the specialized dental needs of children.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Sonnenberg is a strong advocate for mentorship within the dental profession. He recognizes that each individual possesses a set of talents and strengths, and he is committed to helping aspiring dentists identify and capitalize on these attributes. His belief in the power of mentorship as a tool for professional development drives him to assist others in achieving their goals and realizing their full potential.
Dr. Sonnenberg's multifaceted experiences, ranging from his educational achievements to his clinical practice and mentorship endeavors, have not only contributed to the advancement of the dental profession but also fostered a sense of community and support among aspiring professionals. Dr. Yang loves traveling and has been to 14 countries.
Dr. Yang is from Dallas, TX, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and sociology. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with her DMD and has practiced as a general dentist for four years. She also completed the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program.
Dr. Yang is a first-generation college and professional school graduate. She obtained a full-tuition scholarship to fund her college education and another scholarship for her dental degree. Throughout college, she was a teaching assistant and served as a mentor for freshmen students. She was also involved in student leadership, volunteer work, and research.
With her background and experiences, Dr. Yang confidently leads pre-dental students to craft strong applications and reach their goals. She has a strong passion for mentorship because she attributes her successes to her mentors who helped her navigate the admissions process.
