With his medical education, Justin excels at tutoring the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems and the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems sections.
Undergrad: Duke University
Medical School: Baylor College of Medicine
Justin is a huge soccer fan and always finds time every weekend to watch his favorite team, Manchester City.
Justin's passion for mentoring students stems from his own experiences of being surrounded by wonderful mentors at every stage of his career. He wants to return the favor to other students and finds it incredibly gratifying to see them grow and progress.
As a tutor, Justin leverages his MD/PhD training to approach problems and content from two different perspectives. He employs strategies of frequent repetition and drilling, along with a slower, more methodical approach to understanding content, reflecting both MD and PhD training styles.
In his tutoring sessions, Justin emphasizes practice problems and a review of those problems. He believes that content review is vital for MCAT success, but the value of having a tutor does not come from just lecturing students. Instead, tutors should explain confusing or troubling content in the context of practice questions, making the content more meaningful and relevant to the student's needs.
Justin's greatest strength as a tutor is his ability to keep tutoring plans simple. He centers his approach around one key principle: practice as much as possible. By encouraging students to consistently practice problems, they become much more prepared for whatever test day throws at them.
