Dr. Issac ultimately decided to pursue a career in dentistry after attending a six-week program called the Summer Dental School Experience, where she did extensive research about oral health disparities under the assistant dean for admissions and diversity at the University of Minnesota.
During college, Dr. Issac worked as a pharmacy technician while continuously engaging in many extracurriculars, including serving on the pre-dental club board and volunteering at a local community dental clinic and her church. After graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and was the youngest in her class.
In her last year of dental school, Dr. Issac was selected as a student ambassador. In this position, she gave tours of the school to applicants, conducted interviews, and aided the admissions committee in selecting applicants they wanted to offer an acceptance to. This was a very exciting role for her as she advised aspiring applicants with the knowledge of the reality of what dental school entails. Since then, Dr. Issac has had a passion for helping pre-dental students in their endeavor for professional school and mentoring them throughout school.
Dr. Isaac has experience mentoring and consulting students ever since her first year of dental school. She was very active in the pre-dental club at her university and knew many of the members who would often reach out to her for advice with applications, including personal statement editing and interview prep. In her final year of dental school, she served as a student ambassador where she led tours of the school, answered questions, and conducted interviews to assist with the admissions committee. Since graduating from dental school, she has assisted students both near and far with every aspect of the application process.
Dr. Isaac’s consulting is extremely personalized. Despite growing up in a city, Dr. Stein has been snow-skiing since she was three years old and was the captain of her Varsity Ski Team in high school. She is also an avid gym-goer and runner who made it a priority during her busy dental school/residency years to continue her healthy habits!
Dr. Stein, a native of Manhattan, NYC has always been driven by her passion for dentistry and her desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Her journey began at Emory University, where she followed a pre-dental track and earned a BS in biology. Her exceptional academic performance led her to the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded a Dean's Merit Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
During her time at Penn Dental, Dr. Stein discovered her true calling in the field of orthodontics. Her fascination with the intricacies of dental alignment and her desire to help patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles propelled her to apply to some of the most competitive orthodontic residency programs in the country. Through her hard work, dedication, and impressive track record, Dr. Stein secured a spot at her top choice—Columbia University's Orthodontic Residency Program.
Dr. Stein has navigated multiple application cycles, interview processes, and a series of rigorous exams, gaining invaluable experience and insight along the way. Having overcome these obstacles herself, she developed a strong desire to help other students facing similar challenges in their pursuit of a career in dentistry. She recognized the complexity of the application process and the importance of having a knowledgeable, supportive mentor to guide students through the journey.
Drawing from her own experiences in admissions and her deep understanding of what makes a strong application, Dr. Stein has dedicated herself to serving as a mentor to college-level and dental school students.
